The winter trail starts at Engelberg railway station and leads right through the village to Engelberger Aa. A little below the Sportingpark, the bridge crosses the river and leads to the professors' path. From there, take the Engelberger Aa to the left and the edge of the forest to the right on the well-prepared and flat winter hiking trail all the way to the Sporthotel Eienwäldli, where cold feet and hands can be warmed up with a warm cup of tea. The path changes sides and leads along the road to the Fürenalp valley station, the end point of the winter hiking route.

Return to the village either with the free sports bus (see timetable) or on the winter hiking trail along Schweizerhausstrasse past the Restaurant Wasserfall and over Klostermatte to Kloster Engelberg.

    Author’s recommendation

Every last Sunday of the month a longer stop at the Restaurant Eienwäldli is even more worthwhile. The traditional dessert buffet from 12.00 - 15.30 leaves nothing to be desired.
