RIDGE HIKE STANSERHORN-ENGELBERG
26km of hiking pleasure and a total of about 10 hours of walking time await you on this challenging mountain trail (T3)*, which requires good surefootedness and good footwear.
Towards the Titlis! Please note the weather and season for the hike.
The ridge hike starts on the Stanserhorn and is a demanding but uniquely beautiful alpine hike that requires surefootedness and a head for heights. With an overnight stay in a tent on the Alp Laucheren, it is perfect.
Your little adventure already starts in the open air with the convertible cable car to the Stanserhorn. Maybe you have thought in advance what you want to be up here without and then start on the first part of the trail to Alp Laucheren, where you can either rest or spend the night in a tent. At the latest then you will be even more aware that up here, without noise, hustle and bustle, PC, luxury or many people, life regains a piece of authenticity and you can find yourself.
On the second section of the trail, you continue on the beautiful natural trail, which requires surefootedness and a head for heights at the key section "Wagenleis", towards the Titlis, until you reach your destination in Engelberg. In the village below, it is now time to relax in one of the Engelberg hotels.
If your legs are still up to it, you can do the 4-lake hike the next day and turn your adventure into a round tour with this hiking highlight.
* Hiking scale T3: On this hike a good surefootedness, good trekking shoes, a good physical condition and mountain experience are required.

The alp Laucheren is located at about 1900 m above sea level - well protected in a gentle hollow high above the Engelberg valley. From June to end of October Älpler Melk leads his 120 sheep, 2 llamas, about 50 mother cows with their calves and a bull over the mostly steep but lush mountain slopes. Also 8 chickens and 1 rooster spend the summer on the alp and a dog helps Melk herding the animals.
Hospitality is very important to the Niederberger family, who has been managing the alp for 4 generations. It has recently become possible to bivouac on the Laucheren alp and spend the night halfway along the ridge hike - tents and sleeping mats are available, but you have to bring your own sleeping bag. For a delicious dinner and Älpler breakfast is also provided - the unforgettable sunset and sunrise are free of charge. With the ridge walk Stanserhorn-Engelberg and this stopover, a small modern adventure awaits you, a short break from everyday life and an absolute highlight of this year's mountain summer!
If you would like to bivouac on the Laucheren Alp, you must call Agnes and Melk Niederberger on 079 274 67 19 in advance and register.
