The 47 km long Alpine chees trail connects seven alpine cheese dairies and overcomes almost 2000 meters in altitude. In addition to the complete round hike, you have the choice between different daily stages with start and finish in Engelberg, which offer an unforgettable experience for hikers, families with children as well as (e-)bikers. The well signposted trail combines the nature experience of an alpine hike with the enjoyment of regional specialties and gives you exciting insights into the local tradition of cheese production as well as the strenuous life on the summer farms.

Each section of this enjoyment hike takes you to incomparably beautiful alps high above Engelberg and promises you fantastic moments of enjoyment. Below you will find all the information about the individual sections of the alpine cheese trail and can then decide which route suits you best.

Entire tour

47 km

The entire alpine cheese trail has a length of 47km, overcomes 2000 meters in altitude and takes you once around Engelberg. At various places there is the possibility to use cable cars to make the ascent or descent easier. The whole round tour is perfect for a weekend trip. Day tour: Untertrübsee - Gerschnialp

The day tour Untertrübsee - Gerschnialp with start and finish in Engelberg, is short, easy to walk, varied and equipped with many refreshment stops. Therefore, it is also perfect for families and can be completed by (e-)bike.
